If you have been longing to adopt a pet since a long time but did not actually decide upon the pros and cons of it, you should read further on. If you are more of a cat person and think a dog would be too time consuming and difficult a pet to have, you can bring home kittens.  Kittens are cute, adorable and very affectionate pets. Go to an animal shelter that provides kittens for adoption and bring home a cute, sweet and cuddly little friend for yourself. Cats are in fact a cheaper option than dogs, but before you pet a cat, you must know a few basics about the things you need to keep in mind when you get close to a cat.

Petting a cat can seem easy but too much speed or force can agitate cats. Let the cat sniff you first to make it realize that you are seeking permission to touch it. Pet its head gently with your fingers. If you see the cat is just not being friendly or responding to your touch, you should reconsider the idea of petting it. When with children, you need to teach the kids the right way to be with cats as many times, children end up agitating cats and thereby get scratched and bitten.  After you have done a research on cat behavior and are ready to bring one home, just visit the nearest shelter where you would get a pet for adoption and adopt a baby kitten!
